1/17/12 (5:30-6:40pm):
Auditions for chorus members for Missa Solemnis

The Bloomington Chamber Singers will accept a limited number of experienced choral singers to join the group for the rehearsals and performance of their April 21st, 2012 performance of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis. Interested singers can audition Tuesday evening, 1/17/12, from 5:30-6:40 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church*. Prospective members should have experience singing choral music, be able to follow a choral score, and have some familiarity with singing in Latin or another foreign language. Limited openings are currently available in each vocal section. Qualified singers will be invited to join the group for the preparation and performance of Missa Solemnis; singers interested in continuing as regular members of the chorus will be able to audition in the fall for available openings.

Auditions will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. During the brief audition, you will be asked to vocalize and to sight-read a simple hymn or chorale. Singers who are accepted should plan on remaining for the group’s regular Tuesday evening’s 7-9:30pm rehearsal. Regular dues will be waived for singers joining the group for this piece; all singers purchase their own scores (~$30).

BCS is a 501c non-profit corporation, owned and governed by its singer-members. Now in its 45th season, Bloomington Chamber Singers provides an opportunity for area singers, under the direction of a professional conductor, to perform a wide variety of choral music at a high level of musical excellence.
