2005 marked the
35th consecutive season of the Bloomington Chamber
Singers. Started in 1970 by a small group of area
residents who loved to sing, the group has steadily
grown in size, recognition, and musical excellence
to become one of this region's premiere choral
ensembles.
BCS performs repertoire that
ranges from Renaissance to contemporary and from chant
to the major
choral-orchestral masterworks. Hundreds of singers
have been part of BCS over the years, and thousands
of listeners have supported our many events. We are a
chorus of learners who enjoy digging in and becoming
immersed in the music we prepare. Reviews of our performances consistently cite the strong sense of conviction with which we sing, a conviction that we believe is born from an understanding of the intent and context of the music and its text, and from a deep appreciation of the composer's unique musical vocabularly and syntax.
We are proud to be part of the rich artistic
community that makes Bloomington such a rewarding
place to live. We invite you to join us this season
as a singer, listener, or patron as we celebrate
our past and look ahead to our
future.
